King Charles’ Scottish Coronation
Dear Members,
I nearly missed this Whilst the Coronation took place at Westminster Abbey in May and we all celebrated that historic occasion, it seems to have almost gone unnoticed in our Scottish press that King Charles III will be presented with the Honors of Scotland – the oldest crown jewels in Britain – at a service at St Giles’ Cathedral on Wednesday 5 July.
As many members of the Scottish Judiciary, the Law Society and our Parliament will be in attendance and the occasion involves a people’s procession of about 100 community groups collecting the honors from Edinburgh Castle, followed by a 21 Gun Salute and a Fly Past by the Red Arrows (that never took place on 6th May!), I again think it right that as a Society, created by our Royal Charter, we should mark this special moment by sending our congratulations to both King Charles and Queen Camilla.
On behalf of the Society, I would like to send our best wishes to the King and Queen for a successful Royal Week starting with their visit to Edinburgh Castle and St Giles’ Cathedral and their other engagements throughout Scotland. And hopefully there will be no controversy with the Stone of Destiny on this occasion!
Regards,
Martin Sinclair, President of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen
