Carmelite Dig Talk

Aberdeen Carmelite friary is first mentioned in documents in 1273 and is one of 4 medieval friaries known in the City. Excavations in 1980-1 and 1994 prior to redevelopment of the Green revealed a well-preserved church, domestic buildings and over 300 burials. The talk will consider in detail this friary and compare it to the other two Alison has excavated – the Blackfriars (Robert Gordon’s College, Schoolhill) and Greyfriars (Marischal College).

Speaker: Alison Cameron B.Tech (Hons) Bradford, Archaeological Sciences; MCIfA, FSA Scot Cameron Archaeology Ltd.

Full details, of the event taking place from 7pm in the Society’s Library on Concert Court is available on the flyer: Carmelite Digs Talk
