Doors Open Day 2026
The Society of Advocates in Aberdeen is opening its historic home in Concert Court to the public for Doors Open Day 2026
Discover Aberdeen’s legal history this Doors Open Day
The Society of Advocates in Aberdeen is opening its historic home in Concert Court to the public for Doors Open Day 2026, offering visitors a rare opportunity to explore one of the city’s most distinguished professional buildings.
Founded in the 16th century, the Society is one of Scotland’s oldest legal bodies, with a history closely connected to the development of Aberdeen’s legal and civic life.
Visitors can explore the building’s grand entrance hall and staircase before discovering its historic library — a richly atmospheric space lined with legal volumes and featuring an original period gallery.
For generations, the library has served as a meeting place for Aberdeen’s legal community. Its collections of books, records and artefacts offer a fascinating insight into the history of law and civic life in the North-East.
Visitors are welcome to explore the building at their own pace, with guides on hand throughout the day to answer questions and share more about the Society, its history and its collections.
The Society of Advocates in Aberdeen will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 5 September as part of Doors Open Day 2026.
